Pc Daniel Julian arriving at court on Monday – EDDIE MITCHELL
A policewoman recorded another officer trying to rape her as he used his training to pin her to the floor, a court has heard.
Pc Daniel Julian, 46, is alleged to have used the police safety hold after barging his way into her hotel room in Kent in 2021.
Jurors at Lewes Crown Court heard the female officer managed to record part of the attack after reaching under the bed for her phone.
She managed to activate the video recorder after getting her fingertips to the device.
The officer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told police she hoped it would help convince people she was telling the truth.
The officer said: “He just kept saying, ‘Come on, you know you want to’.
“I could feel the tears coming. I said I was scared and he said, ‘What of?’”
In the recording, Pc Julian told the officer he would leave her alone if she flashed her breasts, jurors were told.
Julie Whitby, for the prosecution, said the female officer believed she was going to be raped.
The officer had tried to keep things lighthearted at the beginning, Ms Whitby said.
“She didn’t take him as seriously as she later had to. He tried to put his knee on her shoulder in a police safety hold.
“She was able to get hold of her phone and turn on the recording device. She was about to be raped and in her head she was screaming,” Ms Whitby said.
“She kept saying, ‘No, please go’, but he wasn’t listening.”
Sussex Police said Pc Julian was suspended after the case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Pc Julian, from Pulborough, denies attempted rape, sexual assault by touching and causing another to engage in sexual activity without consent.
